Seven years ago, Alejandro Salazar noticed unusual symptoms. “I had extreme insomnia as well as extensive digestive issues,” said Alejandro. “No one could diagnosis it. A naturopath finally explained that exposure to black mold in my apartment was triggering my immune system. I tried everything to address the symptoms, including taking herbs to detox my liver, but nothing solved it. My friend, Marvin Gross, had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and had been to OHI several times. When he heard my story, he recommended I go, too. Marvin told me to apply for a scholarship, and said he would pay for my first week, and a scholarship would pay for the other two weeks. Marvin’s recommendation changed my life. I was awarded the scholarship and arrived at OHI San Diego on June 15.”
Alejandro didn’t shy away from the juice cleanse. “I wanted to get better, and if a 3-day wheat grass juice cleanse was going to jumpstart my healing, then I was ready to do it,” said Alejandro. “The staff makes it so easy to do the program made a huge difference for me. My sleep dramatically improved, my digestive issues got better, and my sugar cravings disappeared. I couldn’t believe it!”
Alejandro was also very impressed with the OHI curriculum. “The education you get at OHI you can’t get anywhere else,” said Alejandro. “I learned that sleep between 10:00 pm and 2:00 am is the most crucial because that’s when the body repairs. Before I came to OHI, I wasn’t sleeping much at all, so it was no wonder my body couldn’t heal. I wasn’t giving it the rest it needed to detox from the black mold. And the Alpha I & II classes helped with my anxiety, which was also impacting my sleep. I have learned so much.”
Alejandro has so much gratitude for his OHI scholarship. “This scholarship was a miracle,” said Alejandro. “Thank you to OHI. Thank you to the wonderful staff and guests who supported me. Thank you to my friend, Marvin Gross. I hope to return to participate in the OHI missionary program and continue my healing!”
